Columbus Christian wins tournament opener

DAYTON, Tennessee — The Columbus Christian boys basketball team trailed after one quarter Wednesday before rallying to beat Aaron’s Academy from Hendersonville, Tennessee, in its National Association of Christian Athletes Tournament opener.

The Crusaders (25-6) outscored Aaron’s 35-16 over the middle two quarters.

“Everybody was a little nervous and jittery,” Columbus Christian coach Kevin Roth said. “It’s a little bit more physical down here, it was kind of a process there in the first quarter of getting a feel for the game. We made some adjustments at the quarter break and at halftime and were able to get the ball in the lane and get some pretty easy buckets.”

Logan Roth scored 20 points, and Blake Barker added 19 for the Crusaders, who will play at 12:45 p.m. today against Lancaster Christian Academy from Smyrna, Tennessee.
