Around Town – June 22

Orchids to …

• Mr. Trump for proving that he could undo his policy without legislation.

• Peggy Wampler for your well-deserved Golden Hoosier Award.

• Top Dog Car Wash players on being named county champions in the youth baseball league age 13-14 division, and to assistant coach John Marcum for making me proud and happy, from coach Mark White.

• Cindy McMillin for her empathetic and prophetic letter to the editor, urging all Americans to imagine the desperation felt by refugee parents and to protest the immoral separation of their children.

• Chris Rutan, from a friend.

• President Trump, who is trying his best to protect our borders and show compassion with no help from the politically driven and hypocritical Democrats.

• Warren Ward for your expertise and support, from Peggy Dunlevy.

• Duke Roll for being such a good grandson, husband, friend and father for his four children, from his whole family.

• people who take their responsibilities for caring for their dogs and animals seriously.

• Cynthia McMillin for her detailed and compassionate letter to the editor concerning separating children from their parents.

• people who cleaned up around the shrine/flower garden and trimmed the trees at Mount Pleasant Christian Union Church.

• a true hero, the young 14-year-old girl who gave of herself to try to save her little cousin — many prayers and God’s blessings for her.

Onions to …

• the unacceptable sentence of 20 years, in which only 10 will be served, for three felony child molestation crimes.

• people abusing and overcrowding the emergency room by going there with sniffles and not real emergencies.

• parents having babies out of wedlock for not practicing birth control.

• unwed parents who are on government assistance.

• people praising the president for his most recent executive flip-flop on separating refugee parents from their children, because nothing in it requires the government to reunite the 2,300 children already removed from their parents.

• people who seek to minimize other’s concerns by eagerly equating every single crisis with abortion.

• the woman who won’t let her children see their grandmother or great aunts.

• whoever tore up the left lane on State Road 46 West, leaving a six-inch drop-off and a dangerous situation for cars.

• the highway crew for leaving a pile of telephone chords that their lawnmower hit along the road in my bean field.

• those who refuse to recognize that there are more than 700,000 children who are separated from their parents who are on active military duty, because it doesn’t fit their political agenda.
