Tyler Duncan had a career day Saturday, firing an 8-under-par 63 Saturday — his best PGA Tour round ever and the day’s best round of the tournament — to move into a tie for 12th place at 12-under 201 going into today’s final round of the John Deere Classic.
Starting on the back nine, Duncan birdied six of his first eight holes and shot a 6-under 30 on that side. He added an eagle on No. 2 and a birdie on No. 5 to get to 9-under for the day and a tie for third place in the tournament, but bogeyed No. 9, his final hole.
The 2008 Columbus North graduate was tied for 11th after an opening-round 66 on Thursday at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. But after a 72 in Friday’s second round, he made the cut by only two shots.
Michael Kim leads the tournament at 22-under 191. Bronson Burgoon is second at 17-under 196.
Duncan’s 63 was one shot better than his previous PGA Tour-best of 64 that he shot in the second round of last week’s The Greenbrier Classic. He also shot 63 in the final round of the 2007 IHSAA state finals at The Legends to earn medalist honors and had a pair of 63s on the Web.com Tour last year, including one in the 2017 Web.com Tour Championship.
