Two Columbus residents were arrested on drug-related charges after an early morning traffic stop.
Columbus police pulled over a vehicle for a minor violation at 2:40 a.m. Monday in the 2200 block of Ohio Avenue, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
Officers spoke with the driver — Charles A. Sims, 42, of 1837 Washington St. — and passengers inside the vehicle. A police canine that was brought to the scene alerted to the odor of narcotics in the vehicle, Harris said.
When officers searched the vehicle, they found heroin inside the vehicle’s center console, Harris said. Officers also located several pills and drug paraphernalia including syringes inside a bag belonging to Michelle S. Clark, 43, of 3120 13th St., who was a passenger in Sims’ vehicle, Harris said. Officers also found a small amount of methamphetamine in Clark’s possession, Harris said.

When searching Sims, officers found cocaine and methadone inside one of his pants pockets, Harris said.
Sims was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and possession of a controlled substance, Harris said. He was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $87,500 bond, jail officials said.
Clark was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a legend drug-injection device, possession of a legend drug and possession of drug paraphernalia, Harris said. She was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $117,500 bond, jail officials said.
