Staff Reports
The Hayden Historical Museum will conduct its annual pie-baking contest Sept. 1 as part of the Harvest Past event.
Contestants can bring one or more fruit pies to be judged to the Hayden museum kitchen anytime from 9 to 11 a.m.
Judging will begin at 11, and the pies will be graded on appearance and taste. Awards will be given for first, second and third places.
Volunteer auctioneer Tom Lawson will auction the top three pies at 11:45 in the pavilion. All other pie entries will be sliced and offered in exchange for a free-will donation.
Proceeds will be used for the Hayden Museum’s project of restoring former Indiana Gov. Edgar Whitcomb’s family home.
The museum is located at 6715 W. County Road 20S in Jennings County. For additional information, call the Museum at 812-592-8445 or send an e-mail to haydenmuseum@gmail.com.
