A “packing party” to prepare packages to be mailed to soldiers in Iraq, organized by Hoosiers Helping Our Troops, a local support group, was held at First Baptist Church on Fairlawn Drive.

A non-toxic material called “fly ash” used to make concrete leaked while being transferred from a tanker truck to a storage silo at Lee’s Ready Mix plant on Jonesville Road, creating a huge cloud that resembled a volcanic eruption over downtown Columbus.
