A local man was arrested after Columbus Police Department officers recovered methamphetamine along with several stolen items including a laptop inside a Columbus garage.
Officers were sent to the 1700 block of Elm Street at 11 p.m. Wednesday to determine if items stolen from a vehicle earlier in the day were inside a garage behind the residence, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
Officers later spoke with Aaron M.C. Christian, 24, Columbus, who resides in the garage and confirmed the stolen computer was inside the garage, Harris said. Christian refused to allow officers inside the garage and a search warrant was obtained.
While searching the garage, the officers found methamphetamine as well as a backpack and shoes that were stolen from the victim’s vehicle earlier in the day, Harris said.
Christian was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of theft, possession of methamphetamine and counterfeiting/forgery, Harris said.
