Suspended driver arrested for weapon possession

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Columbus man who was stopped twice by local police for driving with a suspended license was arrested on a preliminary charge of possessing a handgun without a license.

At about 4:05 a.m. Thursday, Columbus Police Department officers stopped Kipper L. Doran, 44, for operating a vehicle with a suspended license. Doran was cited by officers and ordered not to drive the vehicle until he had a valid license, said Lt. Matt Harris, public relations officer for CPD.

A short time later, Doran was observed driving the vehicle again, and he was stopped near Second Street and Central Avenue and cited a second time for driving while suspended, Harris said.
