Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. officials will spend the next two weeks providing school board members – and the public – with additional information about the benefits of block scheduling for the city’s three high schools.
BCSC Director of Secondary Education Bill Jensen, Director of Special Education George Van Horn and Columbus East High School Principal Mark Newell updated the board Monday about the progress the corporation has made since its initial announcement on March 4.
“We think we’ve got really good teachers, we’ve got really good framework and we think this will really let us dig a bit deeper,” Van Horn said of the block scheduling proposal.
The board may vote on the adoption of a block schedule as early as April 22 when it meets again at 6:30 p.m. in the Columbus North High School cafeteria. If approved by the board, a block schedule would not be implemented until the 2019-2020 school year.
