IDEM to offer municipal recycling project grants

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has grant funding available for recycling projects.

Public and private businesses, local government and nonprofits doing business in Indiana may submit proposals for grants ranging from $1,000 to $250,000.

Proposals will be accepted through 5 p.m. June 21. Grants are funded through IDEM’s Recycling Market Development Program. Eligible projects focus on reuse, reduction and recycling of municipal solid waste. A 50 percent match is required.

Proposals should demonstrate an understanding of the changing economy for recyclers and look at where monies can be used most effectively by businesses and communities to increase statewide recycling goals.

Proposals must show a need, an increase in recyclable material collection or consumption, a reduction in municipal solid waste shipped for disposal and improved partnerships for recycling opportunities.
