Red Devils top East

JEFFERSONVILLE — Columbus East won at No. 3 singles, but that was all in a 4-1 loss at Jeffersonville in the opening round of the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament.

Danny Murphy beat JJ Boyles 6-2, 6-1 a No. 3 singles for the Olympians (2-13), who will play at Jennings County in the consolation round on Wednesday. East will host a placement-round match on Friday.

The Olympians’ Pranav Kumar fell to Grant Paradowski 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Matthew Degner lost to Jared Wells 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Wyatt Romine and Derek Heideman fell to Cody Short and Joey Zelli 4-6, 6-1, (11-9) at No. 1 doubles, and Emmit Romine and Caleb Wettschurack lost to Adam Crawford and Alex Kelley 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Owls blank Panthers

SEYMOUR — Seymour handed Jennings County a 5-0 defeat in the first round of the HHC Tournament.

Wyatt St. John fell to Vincent Camboulas 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Owen Law lost to Isaac Hardin 3-6, 6-3, (11-9) at No. 2 singles and Justin Ramey fell to Braden Handloser 2-6, 7-6, (11-9) at No. 3 singles for the Panthers (4-12).

Jennings’ Joe Kelly and Jacob Vogel lost to Will Rinehart and Brandon Hubbard 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Alex Leach and Greyson Jackson fell to Trey Hohenstreiter and Andrew Levine 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

The Panthers will host Columbus East in a consolation round match on Wednesday and will host a placement-round match on Friday.

Eagles edge Tiger Cubs

GREENCASTLE — Brown County pulled out three-set wins in both doubles matches to claim a 3-2 Western Indiana Conference victory at Greencastle.

Reid Davis beat Henry Carter 6-2, 7-5 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (15-2, 6-1). Aiden Burt and Nolan Patterson downed Josh Nally and Holton Miller 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Noah Cochran and Spencer Blee topped Eli Hardwick and Boyd Ensley 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles.

Brown County’s Aaron McCann fell to Trent Ross 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and Josh Miller lost to Anthony Conley 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

BC individual advances

BLOOMINGTON — Brown County finished fourth in the Bloomington North Sectional with a 403, but advanced individual Allison Stogsdill to regional after she finished second overall with an 88 at Cascades.

Aubrey Hollander carded a 101 for the Eagles. Taylor Poling added a 105, Ainslie Winton shot 109 and Avery Patterson had a 113.

Edinburgh finished seventh with a 436. Morgan Calhoun led the Lancers with a 97, while Annelise Lollar carded a 103, Haven Link added a 117, Maddy McGaha shot 119 and Jillian Turner had a 125.

Bloomington North (378), Martinsville (385) and Bloomington South (396) claimed the three team-qualifying spots to the Washington Regional, which will be Saturday at Country Oaks in Montgomery.

Stars rally past Eagles

NASHVILLE — Brown County led 1-0 at halftime, but Bedford North Lawrence rallied for a 3-1 win.

Sam Normile scored the goal for the Eagles (5-5-1) off an assist from Caleb Yager.

The Stars outshot Brown County 26-5. Wyatt Fox recorded 11 saves.

Jackets sweep Cougars

MORRISTOWN — South Decatur came closer in each set, but dropped a 25-8, 25-19, 25-20 Mid-Hoosier Conference decision at Morristown.

Whitnye Burton led the Cougars (2-10, 0-6) with nine assists and 12 digs. Savannah Bushhorn and Lana Bell each pounded nine kills, and Kalie Fry served an ace.
