Duke says power is back on in Hope

2:45 P.M. UPDATE: The power has been restored in Hope. A jumper, which is a tiny metal connector, had burned out in a substation, causing the outage, according to Duke Energy.

About 950 homes and businesses in northeast Bartholomew County are without electricity this afternoon. While it appears there has been a circuit lockout in the town of Hope,  technicians with Duke Energy are still trying to determine what caused the power outage, utility spokesman Chip Orbin said.

The outage was first reported at 12:58 p.m. this afternoon, Orbin said.  At this time, crews are hoping to have all electricity restored in northeast Bartholomew County by 4:30 p.m. this afternoon, Orbin said.
