BCSC seeks teacher of the year nominations

Staff Reports

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. is accepting nominations for the Teacher of the Year award.

Nominations may be made until Jan. 31. Each Bartholomew Consolidated school will select one nominee as their school Teacher of the Year to represent the building for a district recognition.

School nominee recognition will take place at the BCSC school board meeting on March 2.

Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Teresa Heiny said the school corporation would like to recognize its teachers by participating in Indiana’s Teacher of the Year Award program. In order to compete for that recognition, the school corporation will assist BCSC’s honoree in creating a portfolio to submit to the state for the award.

The nomination for Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. Teacher of the Year is the first step in that process, Heiny said.

A candidate for Teacher of the Year must be a classroom or special education teacher, instructional coach, counselor, dean or media specialist with at least three years of service to BCSC.

Nominations should reflect an individual who is respected and admired by students, parents and colleagues and is an expert in their field.

Nominees should show collaboration with colleagues, students and families to create a school culture of respect and success and connections in the classroom and key stakeholders that foster a strong community.

The nominee should demonstrate leadership and innovation in and out of the classroom that embodies lifelong learning, and should play an active role in the community as well as the school.

Nomination forms are available on the BCSC website at bcsc.k12.in.us/.
