The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department did a water rescue in the woods at Owens Bend County Park at 9:15 a.m. Saturday when a man reported he was cut off from getting out of the area due to high water.
Deputy Kevin Abner went to the park on County Road 550N and assessed the situation, sending a video to the county’s water rescue team so they could determine what equipment was needed, deputies said.
The water rescue team sent a canoe and all-terrain vehicle, with a Capt. Chris Roberts taking the canoe out to pick up the individual, while tethered by rope from the shore.
The individual was rescued and then evaluated and treated by Columbus Regional Hospital emergency medical personnel.
Clifford Fire Department assisted at the scene.
