CPD arrests three after locating stolen vehicle

Three people were arrested after Columbus Police Department officers spotted a stolen sport utility vehicle on Thursday afternoon.

Shortly after 3 p.m., CPD officers spotted a stolen Lexus SUV near 10th Street and Marr Road, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

A short time later, officers conducted a high risk traffic stop on the vehicle in the 1100 block of North National Road at the Clifty Crossing Shopping Center, Harris said.

Three people inside the stolen vehicle, who were identified as David R. Bozell,
34, of Columbus, Samantha L. Banks, 45, of Columbus, and Alison KN Overfelt, 25, of Columbus,  were taken into custody, Harris said.

While searching the stolen vehicle, the officers located methamphetamine, prescription medication, syringes, and digital scales.

The suspects were transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following
preliminary charges

  • Bozell: Auto theft, driving while suspended with a prior conviction
  • Banks: Possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a legend drug, possession of a legend drug injection device, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle
  • Overfelt: Possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a legend drug injection device, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle
