Bartholomew County Sheriff Department is warning residents that an individual claiming to be “Detective Peterson” is calling people to scam them.
Sheriff detectives never ask for money over the telephone and fines or warrants will never be resolved using prepaid cards, the department said.
Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew A. Myers reminds residents to never give any personal information to someone they do not know — if they receive a call, hang up.
