Donald R. “Donnie” Hamm, 65, of Columbus, passed away at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Donnie was born December 12, 1954, in Loretto, Tennessee, the son of Billy J. and Frances M. Killen Hamm.
Donnie served in the United States Army for two years and was honorably discharged in 1979 after his service. He was a self employed mechanic and enjoyed working on his Dodge Ram pickup truck. Mr. Hamm loved watching Indianapolis Colts football along with the Alabama Crimson Tide college football and NASCAR. He always looked forward to road trips to Alabama.
Survivors include his children, Chris Mullins of Columbus, Lacey Sidwell of Columbus, Tasha (Daniel) Stewart also of Columbus, Dustin (Trish) Biddinger of Crothersville; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; mother, Frances M. Hamm; brothers, Calvin J. Hamm of Colorado, Greg (Regina) Hamm of Alabama; sister, Phyllis D. Garrett of Elizabethtown; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy J. Hamm; brothers, Herb Hamm and Marlon Hamm.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Larry Coon officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are required.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
