COLUMBUS
Robert L. Downin, 76, of Columbus, passed from this life at 9:08 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2020 at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Downin was born August 13, 1944, in Greensburg, Indiana, the son of Paul C. and Catherine E. Bogie Downin.
He married Sharon K. Bokelman December 27, 1964.
Mr. Downin was a member of First Baptist Church and Hartsville Masonic Lodge #547.
He was a former field representative for Farm Bureau Inc.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 56 years; children, Stephen (Heather) Downin of Columbus, Melissa (Peter) Griffith of IL and Candace Smith of Columbus; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; and his brother, Jerry (Paula) Downin of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a niece Kimberlee Sue Downin.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Daniel Cash officiating. Live streaming of the service will be available at firstbaptistcolumbus.org/video
Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to time of service Friday at the church.
We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing guidelines once inside the church and masks are required.
Inurnment will be at the First Baptist Church Columbarium.
