TAYLORSVILLE, INDIANA
James I. Van Blaricum, 73, a resident of Taylorsville, Indiana, passed from this life at 6:16 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Van Blaricum was born in Gary, Indiana, January 16, 1948, the son of the late Lucien R. and Z. Dorine Nicely Van Blaricum.
Mr. Van Blaricum was a longtime tool maker for General Motors. He enjoyed membership in the Hope Masonic Lodge No. 150, Atterbury Gun Club, and the Hoosier Hills Rifle and Pistol Club. He had a passion for guns and shooting and hunting, and always enjoyed keeping up with current events. He will be missed by his faithful companion, his Yorkie, Willow.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his grandsons, Jimmy Van Blaricum of Columbus and Tyler (Emily) Cooper of Columbus; sister, Kathryn (David Kolker) Hornaday of Virginia City, Nevada; nephew, Tyler (Astrid) Kaine; great-nephew, Jurgen (Jessie) Kaine; and several cousins, including, Pam (Robert) Tempest of Columbus.
Mr. Van Blaricum was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Dorine Van Blaricum and his son, James Van Blaricum.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-6 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2021, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. A Masonic memorial service will be held at
6 p.m. Monday by members of the Hope Masonic Lodge No. 150.
The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at the Walnut Hill Cemetery, 1108 Vincennes Avenue, Petersburg, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
