Screw the blue — the Indiana State Police and the Indiana State Fraternal Order of Police — because that’s exactly what Indiana House Republicans have done by passing House Bill 1077, nixing handgun carry permits.
Before the January 6, 2021 insurrection, then-President Donald Trump and some Republicans routinely campaigned on pledges to “back the blue.” Many of the groups that stormed the Capitol and attacked the police also claimed to have backed the blue.
Let’s not be fooled: this is all about Indiana House Republicans pleasing the Indiana gun lobby and anyone else within and without the state, who lined their pockets to get them to repeal handgun carry licenses.
In summary: Indiana House Republicans turn their backs on the “blue” when money from the gun lobby and others becomes front and center.
