Legal Aid to have free clinic

Legal Aid will have a free Legal Aid Walk In Clinic from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Legal Aid office, 1531 13th St., in Columbus. The free clinic is for low-income residents.

The Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Program utilizes local volunteer attorneys, offering free legal consultations to low-income individuals for legal advice for those not otherwise be able to afford the counsel of an attorney.

Individuals coming to the Legal Aid Clinic can expect to receive a 10-minute consultation to answer general and eviction questions, offer legal information, or to receive other limited pro se assistance or advice, in person, on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no need to register in advance.

A general advice session will be from 3 to 4 p.m. covering adoptions, advanced directives, family law, guardianships, protective orders and simple wills and estates. No criminal law questions will be taken. An eviction clinic will be from 4 to 5 p.m. for questions on negotiating with a landlord, receiving rental assistance and sealing of eviction records.
