COLUMBUS
Wilma Jean Day, 84, of Columbus, passed from this life at 2:06 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2022, at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Day was born November 25, 1937, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, the daughter of Clarence and Ollie Gilley Banks.
She married Douglas K. Day March 8, 1956. He preceded her in death July 23, 2011.
Wilma was a former employee at Ogilville Christian Church Preschool as a teacher’s assistant where she served for 25 years.
She was a member of Ogilville Christian Church.
Survivors include her children, Tena (Warren) Brown of Osgood, Sherry (Mark) Yeaton and Kevin (Pam) Day both of Columbus; grandchildren, Amber (Kyle) Wirth of Batesville, Courtney (Danny) Fisher of Columbus, Tucker (Elizabeth) Brown of Fishers, Kendall (Vistoria) Yeaton of Columbus, Trey Brown, Annie Day and Rylie Day all of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Scout, Jude, Noble, Addiley and Ezra; brother, Lester (Gail) Boggs of Seco, Kentucky; and sisters-in-law, Serena Smith of Columbus, Jeri Wright of Columbus, Peggy Boggs of Pikeville, Kentucky, Karen Day of Portsmouth, Virginia and Kaye Banks Forbes of Omaha, Nebraska and a brother-in-law, Pryor Day of Temple, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her, mother, Ollie Boggs and father who raised her, Everett Boggs; father, Clarence Banks; twin grandsons, Zachary and Benjamin Brown and brothers, Justine Banks and Linville and Leonard Boggs.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ogilville Christian Church with Virgil Clotfelter officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike and 9:30 a.m. to time of service at the church.
She will be laid to rest next to her late husband at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
