COLUMBUS, Ind. — An 18-year-old Columbus teen was arrested on multiple felony charges after an altercation involving a firearm in a high school parking lot on Thursday night.
At approximately 10:15 p.m., CPD officers responded to the area of Jonathan Moore Pike and Interstate 65 in regards to the disturbance that already occurred. When officers arrived, they were informed that an altercation occurred in a Columbus East High School parking lot after a basketball game at the school, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
The officers were advised that the suspect, Mason D. Larrison, 18, of Columbus approached a vehicle in the parking lot and pointed a gun at one of the occupants, Harris said.
Larrison reportedly tried to open one of the vehicle’s doors, however, the driver was able to leave the parking lot a short time later, Harris said.
Larrison was later arrested at his residence and a firearm was recovered by officers, Harris said.
Larrison was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges — criminal confinement, intimidation with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm on school property, according to jail officials.
The incident remains under investigation, Harris said.
