COLUMBUS
William “Bill” Saltsman, Jr., 81, of Columbus, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 at The Belmont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Bill was born October 31, 1941, in Hiseville, Kentucky, the son of William and Flora Harp Saltsman, Sr. On March 23, 1961 he married Betty J. Fields.
Mr. Saltsman worked as the pressroom manager for The Republic Newspaper for several years until 1986. At that time, he opened his own printing business, Saltsman Printing until his retirement in 2006. He was a longtime member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge. Bill enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre and Texas Holdem. In his younger years he played basketball and softball but his real passion throughout life was golf and he played every week.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; children, Terena (Forrest) White of Franklin, Rick (Erica) Saltsman of Columbus, Tammy Hayes, also of Franklin; grandchildren, Tom (Sarah) Ross, Mindy Hall; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters, Mona Pierce of Taylorsville, Dorine Reece of Glasgow, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Joey Hayes; eleven brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. There will be no funeral service and in keeping with the family’ s request, cremation will take place after the visitation.
