Rick Weinheimer, chair of the Northside Middle School Language Arts Department and the Columbus North High School English Department, received the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. 2014 Education Hall of Fame Award. Weinheimer carried on the teaching tradition from his father and learned from his wife, who worked in special education at Parkside Elementary School.

Katherine VanderPan of Columbus was preparing to compete in the AmeriCheer Open National Cheerleading and Dance Team Championship in Orlando, Florida. VanderPan had also competed in the competition the year before after placing in regionals the past two years.

The Bartholomew County Easter Seals chapter held their 1974 Easter Seals Drive with a luncheon at Gene’s Cafeteria. John Lindsey, Channel 13 news director and Indiana’s Easter Seals chairman, as well as Columbus Parks and Recreation Director Robert Gillikin, spoke at the luncheon.
