Trinity sweeps North Decatur for regional title

MORRISTOWN — Class A No. 1 and defending state champion Trinity Lutheran cruised in the first two sets Saturday and beat North Decatur 25-12, 25-13, 25-20 to win the Morristown Regional.

Rachel Bonde recorded 14 kills and four assists, Bella Wehmiller tallied 34 assists and two aces and Emmy Price had 11 digs and two aces to lead the Cougars (19-11). Presley Meyer also served two aces.

Also for Trinity, Bailey Bonde pounded 13 kills and two blocks, and Wehmiller had seven kills, two blocks and seven digs. Price notched four assists and two blocks, and Rachel Bonde acced six digs.

The Cougars will play in the semistate semifinals against Greenwood Christian Academy at noon Nov. 1 at Jennings County. Springs Valley and Loogootee will play in the first semifinal at 10 a.m., and the championship will be at 7 p.m. that evening.
