Jessica Lange stars in the title role in the 2024 TV drama “The Great Lillian Hall” (8 p.m., HBO, TV-14). Described at least once as “the first lady of the American stage,” Hall is deep into preparations for her latest drama when she begins to succumb to memory loss and confusion.

After a considerable wait, the audacious U.K. comedy “We Are Lady Parts” returns for a second season, streaming on Peacock. For the uninitiated, “Parts” is a romantic comedy built on a pile of seeming contradictions. Set in an unfashionable section of London, the show follows a group of bold young Muslim women who form a punk band whose name provides the series’ title.

Kids and teens

Looking for another tale of corporate greed? Of too much too soon and mindless bling turned to worthless compost? Look no further than the new documentary “MoviePass: MovieCrash” (9 p.m., HBO).

It’s not even June. Many are still in school. But the silly season has begun in earnest. Summer has often been associated with athletic game shows straight out of summer camp, or preschool. For years, ABC aired “Wipeout,” a summer TV obstacle course complete with chances to experience an unexpected plunge.

Told over two nights, “The Great War” (8 p.m., History, TV-14, concluding Tuesday) recalls America’s role in World War I. Executive produced by Robin Roberts (“Good Morning America”), it blends cinematic reenactments of battle scenes and moments on the home front with interviews with historians and military experts, including retired general and former CIA director David Petraeus.

HBO kicks off the Memorial Day weekend on a musical note. “Gaga Chromatica Ball” (8 p.m. Saturday, TV-14) was taped in front of a live Dodger Stadium audience exceeding 52,000 people during the Los Angeles leg of Lady Gaga’s 2022 tour.
