July 4 closings announced

The following closings have been announced for the July 4th holiday on Tuesday

  • Bartholomew County offices are closed Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 for the holiday. This includes the Bartholomew County Courthouse and the county office building.
  • Columbus City Hall is closed Tuesday, July 4 for the holiday.
  • There will be no Columbus city trash collections on Tuesday, July 4. Collections will be on a one-day delay after the holiday, with Friday, July 7 collections moved to Saturday, July 8. Toters should be out by 7 a.m. The Department of Public Works offices will be closed on July 4th but will reopen at 7 a.m. July 5.
  • The Columbus City Utilities will be closed July 4 with regular business hours resuming at 7 a.m. July 5. Customers with a problem with water or sewer service should call the business office at 812-372-8861 and follow the prompts.
  • The Republic will be closed July 4th to allow its employees to enjoy the holiday with their families. The office will reopen at 8 a.m. July 5. There will be no interruption in the publication schedule as The Republic publishes on July 4th.
