On March 14, Dale Drake is speaking about “Taking Care of Grandma’s Quilts” in the Mill Race Senior Center Craft Room. There is no fee to attend.

Dale Drake has been quilting for thirty years and studying old quilts for twenty. She belongs to the American Quilt Study Group, the national organization of quilt historians, and the local group, the Midwest Fabric Study Group, as well as the Morgan County Schoolhouse Quilters Guild. She also volunteers in the Collections Room of The Quilters Hall of Fame in Marion. For many years she restored old quilts and she loves everything about them.

Over time she has made nearly every mistake possible with taking care of old quilts, and will share her hard-earned knowledge at the March 14 presentation, “Taking Care of Grandma’s Quilts.” The best methods of use and display, storage and cleaning will all be discussed. Dale has a small collection of quilts made by her paternal grandmother “and the aunts”, and will bring some of these along with others from her collection of vintage and antique quilts. Attendees are invited to bring their own heirloom quilts – these will also be shared and discussed as time permits.
