For Tom Petty fans in the area, the wait will soon be over as Those Damn Torpedoes will perform in concert at the Park Theatre Civic Centre in North Vernon at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7.
Those Damn Torpedoes will cover many of the hits the late great Petty and his Heartbreakers group made famous, with superb renditions created by Malcomb and five other musicians and vocalists.
Bobby Willis of North Vernon is Those Damn Torpedoes’ lead singer and guitarist. Kimmet Cantrell will also be there to add a Stevie Nicks touch for tunes such as “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.”
Aaron Montgomery will be on drums, familiar to fans of the Greg Foresman Band that performed a few years ago at the Park Theatre. Keyboard player Bob Ramsey, also a member of Back 2 Mac, a Fleetwood Mack tribute band, and guitarist John Byrne will help fill the landmark venue with classic Petty music.
“Free Fallin’,” “American Girl,” “Don’t Do Me Like That,” “I Won’t Back Down,” “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” “Refugee,” “Don’t Come Around Here No More” and “Breakdown” are just some of the songs that will be featured.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance at the Park Theatre box office, 25 N. Madison Ave. The box office is open 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Or call the box office at 812-346-0330 to make arrangements to reserve tickets. Cash and checks only are accepted. If not sold out, tickets will be available at the door on concert night.
