Retired Columbus East baseball coach Lou Giovanini was the special attraction as East and Columbus North played a 2-1 nail-biter. A throng of former East players and fans jammed Clifty Park to see the Olympians win and to honor the former coach during a special ceremony retiring his number.

Arvin Industries CEO Jim Baker was sworn in as chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Columbus Communications Corp. was granted a franchise by North Vernon City Council and Board of Works to install cable television in North Vernon.
