Lightning struck a transformer at 25th Street and Talley Road, leaving 1,800 customers without power for three hours.

1990

South Central Conference school banners that had hung from the rafters at Columbus North’s Memorial Gymnasium for years were stolen. The thief or thieves entered the gym through a door on the roof and used a catwalk that wound along the ceiling to gain access to the banners, valued at about $800.

1965

Selection of the full block bounded by Fifth, Fourth, Jackson and Brown streets for a new $800,000 sectional mail-handling center in downtown Columbus was announced along with plans to abandon the old post office building on Washington Street.
