Columbus native Richard Weafer and classmates Mitchell Hall and Cody Surenkamp of Seymour were awarded the first batch of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degrees from IUPUC.

1999

A sign signifying Columbus as NASCAR rookie driver Tony Stewart’s hometown was unveiled in front of more than 100 family members, friends and fans. The ceremony was held at Indiana 46 and Carr Hill Road, and Stewart was presented with a key to the city.

1974

Tours of Bartholomew County Hospital were held in conjunction with National Hospital Week. The week’s theme for the year was to encourage community interest in the hospital.
