George L. Rose, 83, of Columbus, passed from this life at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at his home.

Mr. Rose retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1985 where he had worked for 22 years.

He was a member of Hope Masonic Lodge and attended First Baptist Church.

Mr. Rose along with is wife managed the Hope Food Bank from 1998 to 2008.

He was a Sig in the Army serving as a Teletype Operator from 1952 to 1954.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Dr. Daniel Cash officiating.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to time of service Friday.

Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Born in St. Louis Crossing, January 22, 1932, Mr. Rose was the son of Stanley and Lavae Isley Rose.

He married Donna J. Burk, July 22, 1951. She preceded him in death, August 7, 2014.

Survivors include his children, Pamela (Jeff) David, Stephanie (Dennis) Adams, Linda Foster and Phillip (Sonya) Rose all of Columbus; grandchildren, Matthew Adams, Daniel (Becky) Oliver, Michael Adams, Christopher (Brittania) Foster, William (Emiley) Foster, Patrick David and Aiden Rose; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, William “Bill” (Loretta) Rose of Hope and Robert “Bob” (Faye) Rose of Columbus; and a sister, Rita (Glen) Adams of Panama City, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and grandchildren, Montana and Madison Rose and Byron Oliver.
