Motorists were asked to be patient during major roadwork that slowed traffic at the National Road-Washington Street intersection where workers were installing a temporary roadway and laying pipe preparing to widen U.S. 31 from Washington Street to beyond the Flat Rock River Bridge.

1990

Developmental Services Inc. and Knights of Columbus raised about $10,000 during “Walk Columbus,” benefiting Special Olympics and DSI’s Respite Care Program, on the same day as Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department raised $8,000 at its annual omelet brunch to benefit firefighters.

1965

Thanks to the efforts of the Clifty Creek Covered Bridge Preservation Committee, Bartholomew County’s last covered bridge, the structure over Clifty Creek south of the Hamilton Cosco plant, was to be preserved by moving it to Mill Race Park instead of demolishing it to make way for a modern structure.
