Supporters of both Columbus high schools hoped to get approval from Bartholomew Consolidated School Board to proceed with private fundraising to replace grass with synthetic turf at the schools’ multipurpose sports fields.

Bartholomew Consolidated School Board approved moving the Joy Howe School, an alternative educational program for students of high school age, to the Jefferson Elementary School building.

1965

A federal matching grant of $52,125 enabled Bartholomew County Hospital to move ahead with the first phase of a $2,530,566 expansion program.
