Gunner Kiel, who has not practiced all week with his University of Cincinnati football teammates, will not be on the plane Saturday when the Bearcats travel to Hawaii for their Dec. 24 bowl game.
Redshirt freshman Hayden Moore will be Cincinnati’s quarterback when the team takes on San Diego State in the Hawaii Bowl.
Kiel has been away from the team while tending to a personal matter, the university stated Wednesday. His father, Kip, would not comment when contacted by The Republic.
“He’s not off the team,” Tommy Tuberville, the Bearcats’ head coach, told the Cincinnati Enquirer on Thursday. “He’ll be back, but I don’t know when. That’s pretty much all I can say about it.”
