Lightning seared through a Columbus house and zapped a pumping station at Otter Creek Golf Course during a rare December thunderstorm.

1990

All of Indiana was under a flood watch as melting snow and more than 3 inches of rain combined to send most creeks and rivers out of their banks, prompting sandbagging in several counties and evacuations in others. In Bartholomew County, the Columbus wastewater treatment plant reported White River climbed from 3.07 feet to 3.36 feet in a 2-hour time span.
