Childhood development event planned

The Indiana Youth Institute and the Bartholomew County Council for Youth Development are hosting a special event about early childhood development on Thursday.

The event, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at YES Cinema and Conference Center, 328 Jackson St., Columbus, will have a free luncheon, movie screening and discussion.

Those who attend will see the fist installment in a five-part series, “The Raising of America: Early Childhood and the Future of Our Nation.” The documentary will explore why so many children in America are faring poorly, the consequences for the nation and how to make improvements and set children on a better path.

The event is part of the institute’s Youth Worker Cafe program and is free, but reservations are required. To make a reservation, visit iyi.org/ywc or email Debbie Jones at djones@iyi.org.
