Edward Kaler, age 68, of Richmond, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

Born September 3, 1947, in Beford, Indiana, to Doug E. Kaler Sr. and Lois Burns Kaler, Eddie lived most of his life in Richmond. He was member of Boys Scouts of America and a charter client of Green Acres, now Benchmark, where he was a member of the choir. Eddie was a member of Connersville Baptist Temple of Connersville. He participated in Special Olympics and his hobbies included collecting train books and magazines. He also enjoyed country western music, music from the “oldies but goodies” era, and Gaither gospel music. He loved traveling to train museums all over the USA.

Survivors include his mother, Lois Kaler of Richmond; brothers, Doug (Anita) Kaler Jr. of Richmond and Phil Kaler of Valencia, California; and his beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Doug Kaler Sr., and a sister, Vicki Sharits.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at New Hope Christian Church, 1404 W. County Road 400 N, Columbus, Indiana.

Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
