Nearly half of Bartholomew County’s public schools were placed on an academic watch list by the Indiana Board of Education based on improvement in ISTEP-Plus performance, but BCSC officials were unsure how much weight to put into the ranking.

1991

Anyone wearing a “Discover ColumBus” button rode free on the city bus system on “button day.” The neon orange, green and yellow buttons were distributed at Bartholomew 4-H Fair and on buses to help increase the number of regular riders.

1966

Robert D. Joplin was named director of the federal anti-poverty program in Bartholomew, Brown and Jackson counties.
