After the fourth hit with a bulldozer’s claw, stubborn blacktop gave way and ground was broken for the $8 million, 85-room Hotel Indigo in downtown Columbus.

Cummins Engine Co. donated a brand new engine to be installed by 16 Atterbury Job Corps students in a grader the students planned to use on roads during the Mill Race Park renovation.

1966

Two shots were fired by police at two burglary suspects fleeing the H.A. Williams Electronics Co. on Washington Street, but the shots apparently missed and the suspects escaped.
