David Kelso Burnside, 76, of Columbus, passed from this life at 1:37 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Silver Oaks Health Campus.

Mr. Burnside was born Nov. 8, 1939, in Columbus to A. Tull and Hilda Jean Kelso Burnside.

He married Gay Louise Brewer in June 1962.

Kelso Burnside graduated from Columbus High School in 1957 and Butler University in 1961 where he was a Sigma Chi. He was a U.S. Air Force Reserve veteran from 1962-1967.

Mr. Burnside worked for his father at Burnside Concrete as a young boy until 1964. In 1964, he built Driftside Mobile Home Park and owned Burnside Mfg. Home Sales. In retirement, he owned American Flag Store.

David was a member a member of First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gay and a sister, Jeannie (John) Piatt of Columbus.

Mr. Burnside was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kathryn Lynn Brunni.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard Boles officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or First United Methodist Church.
