Columbus Enterprise Development Corp. won an Indiana University Entrepreneurial Award of Distinction, the Social Enterprise Award, for its work providing assistance to new and growing small businesses at its facility near Columbus Municipal Airport.

1991

An area west and north of Cummins’ Columbus Engine Plant on Fifth Street was evacuated after a hairline crack in a fiberglass tank holding more than 2,500 gallons of hydrochloric acid was discovered.

1966

A man wrapped like a mummy and identifying himself only as “Sam Bone” won first prize for the scariest individual in the Halloween walking parade downtown but seemed to become a real ghost when he disappeared and could not be found by event organizers.
