Jiles Mullins

North Vernon

Jiles Ray Mullins, 86, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:42 a.m. Sunday, October 30, 2016, at Silver Oaks Health Campus in Columbus.

Born March 29, 1930, in Pound, Virginia, Mr. Mullins was the son of Dile and Mamie Mullins Taylor. He married Thelma Mullins on July 4, 1950. She preceded him in death February 25, 1975. He married his second wife, Carolyn Vallee, on July 16, 1976, in North Vernon. She preceded him in death June 22, 1994.

Mr. Mullins worked for the U.S. Post Office for 27 years and was pastor of Church of God for 36 years. He was a member of the Association of National Rural Letter Carriers and Rescuers of Homeless Felines. He served in the U.S. Air Force for three years. Mr. Mullins enjoyed fishing, reading the Bible and the 1970 Cougar Corvette.

He is survived by his sons, Jiles E. (Sue) Mullins of North Vernon and Dewayne (Dawn) Mullins of Gosport; daughters, Ramona (John) Bosnyak of Columbus and Roberta (Bill) Mosley of North Vernon; brothers, Jim (Shirley) Mullins and Rick (Carolyn) Mullins, both of Columbus; sisters, Wilma Clark of North Vernon, Georgia (Bob) Ernstes of Commiskey and Evelyn Kincer of Pound, Virginia; grandchildren, Kathy (Brian) Barber, Eric (Melissa) Mullins, Timothy (Susan) Poer and Monica (Johnny) Ashpaugh, all of North Vernon, Jennifer Bosnyak of Columbus and Laura (Jeff) Jones of Dallas, Georgia; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Thelma Mullins; second wife, Carolyn Mullins; daughter, Catheryn Louise Mullins; brothers, Bob, Wendel, David and Lowell Mullins; sisters, Ruth Boggs, Naomi Boggs and Ella Mae Perkins; and grandson, John Bosnyak.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Grayford Road Church of God in North Vernon. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
