David Lane Taskey, 53, of Columbus, passed away December 29, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, after a long and courageous battle with lung disease.
David was born April 17, 1963, to Harold F. Taskey and Dixie Lile Taskey in Columbus, Indiana. He was a 1981 graduate of Columbus East High School. David served as a medic in the Indiana National Guard from 1982 to 1988. During his service, he earned many awards. He was the owner for his own roofing company for many years.
David attended East Columbus United Methodist Church.
David is survived by his mother, Dixie; fiancé, Chris Hunt; brother, Scott (Cindy) Taskey; sister, Sandy (Bill) Allen; nephews, Greg Taskey and Derrick (Lindsey) Taskey; and nieces, Rachel Allen and Lindsey (Josh) Reagan.
To honor David’s wishes, his body was donated to Indiana University School of Medicine to further the education of lung disease. No calling or service will be held. A private family celebration of life will be held at a future date.
Memorials may be made in honor of David to East Columbus United Methodist Church.
David was preceded in death by his father, Harold.
