Bartholomew County was among 100 Best Communities for Young People according to a national youth agency, Council for Youth Development, the only Hoosier city on the list.

1992

Based on accident rates and the amount of traffic in the area, a new traffic signal was installed at Taylor Road and Waycross Drive, designed to protect pedestrians, primarily students at Smith School.

1967

The 75-year-old Belvedere Hotel at Third and Franklin streets was destroyed by fire.
