Howard Gabbard, 74, of Commiskey, died Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Ann Riley Gabbard; his children, Scott (Melinda) Gabbard of North Vernon, Barbara (Darrell) Galliher of North Vernon, Sandra Gabbard of Commiskey and Sue (Doug) Reece of North Vernon; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Norma (Johnny) Gross of Seymour, Anna (Barry) Morris of Seymour, Lois (Bruce) Brindley of Davis, Michigan, Evangeline (Troy) Jones of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, J.B. Gabbard of North Vernon, Helen (Roger) James of Crittenden, Kentucky, and Elizabeth Roberts of Tompkinsville, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gena Carol Gabbard.
Funeral services for Mr. Gabbard will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Tea Creek Baptist Church in Jennings County, with the Rev. Bart Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon and from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at the Pisgah Church and Cemetery in Deputy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made through the funeral home to the Clifty Creek Coon Hunter’s Association or the Jennings County Animal Control.
