State Road 252 work to begin

An Indiana Department of Transportation contractor will be doing work along State Road 252 between Interstate 65 and Flat Rock in southwestern Shelby County beginning Monday, causing intermittent closings.

The road closings — just north of the Bartholomew County line — will occur east of County Road 700W and west of County Road 425 east beginning at 8 a.m. Monday and continuing through mid-week.

Milestone has the state’s contract for the $12 million rehabilitation project to widen and reconstruct or resurface seven miles of State Road 252. The project includes bridge work at Lewis Creek and the Flat Rock River, as well as replacing drainage structures.

Utility companies con-tinue to move services out of construction areas. When those relocations are complete, crews will begin construction activities in the town of Flat Rock, INDOT officials said.
