Mary L. Hatton, 71, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:34 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017, at her home.
Mrs. Hatton was born Nov. 6, 1945, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of Lloyd and Grace Lehman Poisel. Mary was the widow of Jerry D. Hatton, who preceded her in death May 5, 2012.
Mrs. Hatton was a longtime hairdresser and the former owner of Aesthetic Hair Design in Columbus.
She was a volunteer at the Bartholomew County Humane Society, Foundation for Youth and Quinco, and she enjoyed membership at the Columbus Moose Lodge.
Survivors include her children, Melissa (Mike) Smith of Columbus, Marc (Patty) Smith of Nashville, Michelle (Jim) Williams of Columbus and Michael (Crystal) Smith of Columbus; step-children, Frank (Doris) Smith of New Albany, Derek Hatton of Columbus and Chad Hatton of Jackson County; grandchildren, Zachary Walker, Jeremy Smith, Jamie (Megan) Williams, Mara Williams, Donavan (Heather) Michael, Marissa and Logan Cutsinger, Jakob and Emily Smith, Amanda Redford and Ally and Sabrina Hatton; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters; a dear friend, Neice Bishop of Jennings County; and her eight furbabies.
Mrs. Hatton was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry; granddaughters, Mary and Kayleigh Smith; an infant son; and six siblings.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
